If there is an activity that can gather high doses of emotion, fun, passion and health to be shared, it is definitely the sport. The good weather, the diversity of the environment with sea and mountains without leaving the city and top facilities make Barcelona, in addition to a world reference point for urban tourism, the perfect host for sporting events of all kinds. Sailing, tennis, equestrianism, soccer, athletics, triathlon, action sports and motorsports are some of the appointments that the city will host in 2020 and that you should not miss.

Although many associate this relationship of the city with sport with the 1992 Olympic Games, Barcelona’s passion for sport goes back a century earlier, when at the end of the 19th century the city led the introduction of a large number sports categories that did not exist in Spain until then. Thus, a tradition was born whose legacy is represented today by numerous clubs and sports associations, many of them internationally renowned.

MORE THAN JUST A CLUB

Do you like soccer? When we talk about FC Barcelona the answer to this question is irrelevant, because as its motto says, Barca is more than a club. In fact, Messi and his team mates are the main reason why 6 out of 100 tourists visit the City of Barcelona, and the Camp Nou, along with its museum, are in the top 5 of the most visited monuments in Barcelona, with more than 1.5 million visitors a year.

And it is no wonder, as the showcases of the Barcelona museum host all possible trophies, led by the European Cups won in the finals of Wembley (1992 and 2011), Paris (2006), Rome (2009), Berlin (2015) and the World Club of Abu Dhabi and Japan (2009 , 2011 and 2015). In addition, thanks to the tour it offers, you may discover the most emblematic corners of the stadium: stands, pitch, visitors changing room, changing room tunnel, press room, mixed area, benches… and feel the magic of Camp Nou from the stadium grass. And not only that, you’ll also be able to experience the excitement players feel when they go out on the pitch and even sit on the bench of the first team!

On this occasion, the incline slope rate has been reduced by 20% and the turns have been smoothed, so that participants will enjoy even more delight with the views during the itinerary.

Plus, throughout the weekend we will have parallel activities to enjoy as a family the fusion of sport and leisure. The Kids Race will bring together hundreds of children in children’s races, while Expo Sports will host the most prominent firms in the sports market.

In 2019 the race received around 18.000 runners from 107 countries, almost half of which came to Barcelona from outside of Spain to participate in the event. And a sporting event like this invites you to travel and spend a few days with the whole family, doesn’t’ it?
