We bring you a short list of shops and singular places where you will fall in love with amazing designs, secret gardens in the middle of a neighborhood, family bookstores… If you want to make a different and ethic present, have a look at our suggestions!
CASA ANITA (Vila de Gràcia)
It’s a place dedicated to children and teenagers where adults can also spend a few hours discovering wonders with a cover, stories and an end. You may ask for the bookseller’s advice, listen to her recommendations to the rest of customers or just go on your own and search through the different sections.
HIVERNACLE (Sants – Montjuïc)
At Hivernacle they sell indoor and outdoor plants, seeds, soil and gardening accessories; but this year, it’s tailor-made urban vegetable gardens which are on trend… It’s amazing to have a walk through there!
ROLLITOASÍ (El Poble-sec)
Nataline, the designer from Mallorca, has brought her universe full of cute handcrafts from cyberspace to a little corner in Sant Antoni. At her shop you will find a wide assortment of colorful women’s clothes, made by herself, together with plenty of original accessories.
TRADITIONAL MARKETS AND FAIRS
Santa Llúcia -Barcelona.
And, as usual, we also bring you the traditional Christmas fairs and markets of Barcelona. Not to be missed! Make sure you get to visit them during your stay in Barcelona.
SANTA LÚCIA FAIR:
It is with no doubts the traditional market par excellence. Located in front of Barcelona’s Cathedral, it is popular for selling Christmas decoration models and other Christmas decoration articles. Our suggestion? Take a ‘caganer’ as souvenir with you!
When? From 30th November to 23rd December.
CHRISTMAS FAIR AT SAGRADA FAMILIA:
Well located just in front of Gaudi’s great temple, it has nothing to envy to Santa Lucía’s market. Christmas decoration, models and traditional candies are waiting for you. Our advice? Take the opportunity to visit the Sagrada Family, as you have it right in front of it. In our blog you may find plenty of articles about it and about Gaudí, have a look at them!
When? From 28th November to 24th December.
THREE WISE MEN FAIR AT GRAN VÍA:
Located between Entença and Muntaner streets, the Three Wise Men market at Gran Vía has all the little gifts you need to make a good impression. Presents for men and women, toys, hot chocolate and churros –flour fritter- stands… so good! We recommend you to go the evening of the 5th January to get your last minute presents. It is said that the Three Wise Men buy there the sweets –or coal- that you will find in your shoes the following morning. Don’t miss it!
