It seemed that it would never be back, but good weather is finally approaching. That’s why at Hostemplo we are already looking for some of the most appealing alternative plans for spring. What do you think? Today, as a warm-up, we recommend you some cycling tour around Barcelona. Would you like to see Barcelona on wheels? This is your chance to do it.
THE MOST TOURISTIC ROUTE
Gaudí, Rambla and paella: Sounds good, doesn’t it? A 9km ride, accessible for anyone. No special skills are required, just being able to ride a bike. We suggest you to start in the town center (Plaza Catalunya or Plaza Universidad), go across the Gothic district in front of the cathedral and get into the Born district, where you will find the fantastic church of Santa Maria del Mar. From there, you may continue to Ciutadella’s Park, riding up Lluís Companys and Paseo de Sant Joan, crossing the Arc de Triomf. At Gran Vía you may turn right to take Marina Street, which will lead you to Sagrada Família. From there, we suggest you to take a spin through Paseo de Gracia and admire its most iconic buindings: La Pedrera (Casa Milà), La Casa Batlló and other modernist buildings you can’t miss. Continue your route at Las Ramblas heading down to the Port and finish your tour having a tasty paella at Cal Pinxo.
BARCELONA COAST
This refreshing route belongs to the Ronda Verda (green route) and makes a total of about 10 km, all flat. It is the perfect ride to get to know all the beaches in Barcelona, from the port to Badalona.
As you ride, you will also be able to glance some of the most interesting monuments and must-visit places, like Colombus monument, the Moll de la Fusta, the Barceloneta, the Fòrum or the Besòs rivermouth.
LES AIGÜES ROAD
This next-to-last route is for those who are really keen on sport. Les Aigües road is the place where runners, cyclers and hikers meet every Sunday to train and improve their performance.
Located on the hillside of the Collserola Natural Park, las Aigües road starts at the Pla del Maduixers, in Barcelona and ends at Mireia Square, in Esplugues de Llobregat. It is an easy, flat lane, despite a couple of steep uphill. Its almost 9 km way offers some of the best sights of Barcelona and the Mediterranean. The sand lane is suitable for all bikes and levels and will allow you to glance some symbolic buildings of the city that are sometimes difficult to see. We are referring to Sagrat Cor temple, the Collserola tower and the Fabra observatory.
TOTAL BARCELONA
