Today, at Hostemplo, we would like to join the World Snow Day celebration<\/strong>. Fancy skiing? Take advantage of the recent snowfalls and all the activities organized for that day and\u2026 go skiing in Barcelona!
\nWorld Snow Day<\/strong> takes place on 21<\/strong>th January. AEMET (the State Meteorogical Office)<\/strong>, under the Environmental Affairs Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing, Food and Environmental Affairs, joins the celebration, together with all ski resorts worldwide, organizing plenty of activities to show the best of winter sports and the beauty of the environment where they are practiced. \nThe International Ski Federation <\/strong>established this celebration in 2007 with the goal of bringing families and people in general to the Snow and informing about the benefits of snow sports, the importance of a responsible practice and the need for being respectful and preserving the environment.
\nSKI RESORTS NEAR BARCELONA?<\/strong>
\n <\/strong>Either if you practice ski or snowboard, we bring you the main ski resorts. Let have them sorted by distance, from closer to further, right?
\nLA MOLINA \u2013 MASELLA:<\/strong>

\nThese two resorts make a<\/strong> total de 111 km of slopes <\/strong>and are linked by lifts; therefore, users can enjoy both resorts with the same pass<\/strong>. They are locates in the area of the Cerda\u00f1a<\/strong> and they are traditionally the most appreciated by the Catalans who are keen on winter sports<\/strong>. La Molina stands out for its busy social life and its broad offer of ski and snowboarding courses<\/strong>. The Masella overlooks the Cerda\u00f1a Valley at its whole,<\/strong> which is the largest one at the Pyrenees.

\nThis resort is located within the Natural Park of<\/strong> Aig\u00fces Tortes<\/strong>, in the Valley of Bo\u00ed<\/strong>, in Lleida. It is the highest and most modern resort at the Pyrenees<\/strong> (with a height of 2750 meters, opened back in 1990), but it is a small one and has no accommodation by the resort<\/strong>. It is also very attractive for the environment where the resort is located, surrounded by villages with awesome Romanic buildings<\/strong>, as well as the broad leisure offer together with other activities <\/strong>(golf, tennis, futsal, etc.).

\nThere is a shuttle bus from Barcelona to this ski resort<\/strong>. It is located in the town of Rialp<\/strong>, in the Lleida Pyrenees, at the foot of Peak l\u2019Orri (2440 meters); most of its slopes are facing north, for which they enjoy a well-earned reputation for the best snow of all Pyrenees resorts.<\/strong> It is thought for a family public and beginner skiers and snowboarders.<\/strong> One of its most renowned facilities is the Snowpark<\/strong>, pioneer in the Pyrenees and, for many years, at the forefront of the latest trends of freestyle. Also in Port-Ain\u00e9<\/strong> we can find the highest hotel in the Pyrenees<\/strong>, located at 2000-meter height.

\n\"skiAlso within the natural environment of Aig\u00fcestortes<\/strong>, in the town of Spot, in Lleida, just next to<\/strong> Baqueira<\/strong>, we find this resort for more advanced skiers or snowboarders<\/strong>. If you want to escape from the crowd of most Catalan resorts or enjoy skiing with the whole family, this is your place. Spot Esqu\u00ed<\/strong> stands out for being located in the dense black pinewoods, for its awesome sights, for the quality of the snow and for hosting plenty of competitions in all winter sports disciplines<\/strong> in its officially approved slopes.

\nVALL DE N\u00daRIA<\/strong>

\nIt is one of the most familiar and welcoming ski resorts<\/strong>, thanks to the service portfolio offered to the visitors in the middle of the mountains. The Valley of N\u00faria <\/strong>is located in the municipality of Queralbs<\/strong>, province of Gerona, at a height of 2000 meters<\/strong>; it is easily accessible by train (Ferrocarriles de Catalu\u00f1a<\/em><\/strong>) and the rack railway of N\u00faria<\/strong>, with amazing views during the journey. They are low or mid difficulty slopes <\/strong>and make barely 7km; therefore, it is ideal for kids that are learning to ski.

\nYou can also visit some cultural attractions, such as the Sanctuary where the Virgin of N\u00faria is, or Sant Giles Chapel<\/strong>.
